Need for Speed - Most Wanted
I downloaded this game demo on Sat night and I have been playing it since then.
It is really great, It is really good that they have got back day time racing; not that I didnt like the underground scene that was really good; but the entire concept of open world driving along with day time driving with cop chace is really great.
The music is excellent too.
I am waiting for Prince of Persia demo

Quite a good broadband ISP for London. it gives 24 megs for24£per month. But it requires ADSL2,I think that requires a different type of modem I am not sure if I can use my existing modem/router for the same.

Low space on C:
The amount of space on C: was really low, so I decided that I would install windows on a diff partition (this time give it 10Gb) I started off with that and then got board since it takes a really long time, moreover I didnt have the installer for some of the software, like Far Cry and Stary Night. So I decide that I would go back to my previous install and try and move Docuements and Settings to a different partiftion after searching for a some time I found this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314843/ I tried to move 'Documents and Settings' but I wasnt successfully so I finally mamanged to move my profile to a different drive.
I now have 500mb on C:, well much better than 97mb.
Spent the entire day on this...a realy waste.
I still have to move to the new windows since I am quite sure I am going to hit the lower limit soon.

Quake 4
Been playing Quake 4 for a couple of days and I have to say it is really good. It built on the same engine as Doom but I seemed to like this game much more than Doom, I guess I didnt quite like the Doom story line about ghost on Mars didnt make much sense. Well there isnt much sense even in Quake 4 but then too I quite like the single player game strategy.

Joanna Newsom (This Side of the Blue)
A really nice song by Joanna Newsom called This side of the Blue from the album The Milk eyed Mender I heard this song the first time on TV in some Ad, I think it was a Vodophone 'NOW' ad though I am not that sure. She has got a really nice voice and the tune is really great.

Spring MVC vs Struts
Gerard Davison's Weblog: First looks, Spring MVC vs Struts
In most places, the Spring framework doesn't reinvent working technologies. In the area of presentation logic, though, Spring introduces a simple model-view-controller framework called MVC Web that has many competing architectures, like Struts and Java Server Faces (JSF). Take solace, though. You don't have to use MVC Web to use Spring. But if you decide to do so, you will find a few advantages:
-MVC Web is based on interfaces rather than inheritance. As we discussed in Chapter 3, interfaces often give better flexibility and looser coupling than inheritance-based designs.
-MVC Web does not dictate your choice of view. Other frameworks tend to provide better support for favored view technologies, such as Velocity (proprietary) and Struts (JSP). For example, Struts exposes the model via request attributes. As a result, you need to build a bridge servlet to use a technology such as Velocity that doesn't understand the Servlet API. Spring exposes the model through a generic map, so it can work with any view technology.
-MVC Web provides consistent configuration across all aspects of a Spring application. It uses the same inversion-of-control paradigm that the other frameworks use.
-MVC Web makes testing easier. Since you don't have to extend another class (like Action or ActionForm in Struts), you can easily mock the request and response.

IBM - DB2 Alphablox connections to DB2 OLAP 8.2/Essbase 7.1 ASO databases
I was having a real problem setting up the Essbase connection from Alphablox on Nt and I finally solved the problem I had a look at this support site from IBM and it was quite helpfull. Now all that I have to check is the working of the Tomcat 5.0.28 with Alphablox and the finally debugging. Once I get the debugging up and running I should be in a really good shape.
This is like a major break through since I have been fighting with this for almost a week now.

Error 1714 - while installing iTunes
I was getting 'Error 1714' while installing iTunes I guess it has something to do with the fact that I manually deleted the folder c:\windows\Downloaded Installations\
Since this folder was taking up a lot of HD space on the C drive
Now since I didnt that I couldnt install iTunes updated version since the iTunes installer was loooking for an older version of iTunes to uninstall it and it couldnt find the older installer at c:\windows\Downloaded Installations\
So I downloaded Windows Installer CleanUp Utility that did some clean up.

Stopped by the cops again at Tower Hill Tube Station
I think I am the chosen one since I was stopped again by a cop today but this time it was the Tube station and not the DLR station.
This cop started asking me stuff and then I told him that I had allready been searched, he had a stupid look on his face and I told me that I was searched on friday and he asked me if I had the ticket with me so I showed it to him. He then said that he was sorry and he said that I do have a big bag with me ( big ??? it is just a normal sized bag, and nothing much in it ), told him that if he still wanted to have a look inside he definately can. He said that he said that it was ok and he let me go.

Rapid reboots on Dell GX270
For the last couple of days I was having a problem with my PC at work. It just kept rebotting, and I also noticed that it made a wierd sound while starting up. The rebotting was quite random and not related to any problem with a software.
That guy at the help desk was really helpfull and he told me that my profile was really huge, we reduced it by deleting the cache folder in .IntelliJ that seemed to have solved the problem for yesterday, but then today morning I couldnt log into the system at all.
Finally the hardware guy came over and he opened the machine and he told me that a capacitor was fried, I had a look at it and it looked like some puss ozzing out.
He told me that he is taking my PC and going to replace the motherboard and will get it back in about an hrs time, it is good that the problem was related to just my motherboard and not any software, since I didnt want to go through the entire process of re configuring my machine and setting it up to work the way I wanted it to work. Moreover I also dont loose the work that I had done yesterday evening.
I also googled the problem and it came up with this article. I have to say I am luck I dont have this problem with my PC at home since, coz if I did I would have no idea about the actual problem and no way I could get it replaced without paying a huge sum.

I got this book for my US trip, it is really very good. It is written by Brian Greene, the same author who wrote 'The Elegant Universe'.
Had a really very nice trip to US and did a lot of things, I dont feel like writing much now. I guess I should be uploading all the photos to the internet soon.

Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas: Simple Skin Editing
I was looking up a stuff about GTA: SA since I have been playing that game for almost a week now. It is really quite interesting since it has some interesting stuff like you have to go to the gym eat at regular intervals and moreover you change you look and hair style etc. The maps are really really huge compared to Vice City.
I found some interesting site on GTA SA:
http://www.gtaforums.com
http://www.gtasanandreas.net/
I was also looking into creating a custom Skin for CJ and I found this simple tutorial.
The GTA development community is really really huge. The number of freelance developers working on hacking into GTA to change it in some way or the other makes you thinking about talent out there.

GMail Drive shell extension
Nice Windows Shell Extension into Gmail, this is really quite cool. If you require an extra 1Gb of online space. - provided by Kartik G.
There are definately some limitations
1. You can only upload and download files of size 10Mb
2. Incase GMail changes its interface it breaks this program.
There is also something similar for Java - G4J

Foo Fighters - All my life
DU Meter Home Page
A cool tool for monitoring your downloads - real time and it also stores download history.
You even setup notifications when you have crossed a downloaded set up limit over a period of time.
The realtime download meter is transparent so you and keep the window on top without obstructing anything else.
I feel that it is quite good, since now I can monitor my download activty over a few months, and moreover since I have download limit of 20Gb per month I can also monitor if I am crossing that limit. I think i may have crossed the limit in the last month since I downloaded Fedora, Vs.NET, Scrubs Season 3 and part of Season 4.
That reminds me that I have to delete Fedora from my HD since I have allready burnt it on a DVD.

Computer Games
I have started playing Prince of Persia 2 again on quite a regular basis, I think it is since I was sick this weekend so I had a lot of time on my hands. I have finished about 85% of the game and it has a nice twist, I guess there are more Twists later on too. I am really keen on finding out how the story pans out.
I just happend to search on the net and found out that they are working on Prince of Persia 3,and it is going to be released Q4 2005 and then in Q3 2006 for the PC, which is really bad since I was hopping that it would be released at the same time in all the platforms.
GTA SA is comming out for the PC, so that is going to be really good.
There is also another games posters that I have been seeing - Pariah

Have a look at Linux Admin's post
And then have a look at Paul Rademacher's Housing site that uses google maps, it is totaly mind blowing.
Even the guys at google are shocked, I cant figureout how he did it ???

MSN Spaces
This is quite good since it is linked into the chat application which is really quite nice. Comming to think about that I wonder if one could hack into MSN Messenger 7 so that when we a user clicks on MSN spaces it opens up www.blogger.com and not MSN Spaces Blog space. That would be interesting.
Another thing that I noticed was that it had a size limit on the number of images that can uploaded.
I wonder when Google is going to come out with a chat application.
I would assume that it has all the normal chat features like
- Chat
- Audio and Video
- File Transfer ( better than what MSN and Yahoo Offer )
- Chat room
- Making Phone calls
- Blogging
- Searching
- Viewing Music Vidoes
- Listening to Radio
- Online Gaming.

Interesting things about Google Desktop Search
I notices that Google Desktop Search connects to the internet at times. I wonder what it is sending ?
Another interesting that whenever I go to www.google.com and search for something, the first line contains Google Desktop search results. So when we search for something using Google the same search is performed on our local machine, I wonder how it does that ?

I liked this T-Shirt a lot, I managed to get a Black T-Shirt and paint it on the back. Though I really wanted to paint in on the front but the T-Shirt allready had 'CAT' in the front.
I think i posted about this T-Shirt a while back.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay
Just played the demo version of this game and it is realy quite good. I really liked Vin Diesel dialogs. What I also liked about it is the menu system, that was something really quite good and inovative.

Looking Glass
I have to go through this and install the looking glass on my Linux.
That means I really have to log into Linux after a really really long time :-)
Pc Quest is really a good magazine but their customer service is really bad.
