The application (Google Desktop) fails to install if you have less than 1GB free and will only install on your system partition. So if you have multiple partitions, don't like installing apps to your system drive or have less than 1GB free on it then you cant do anything much.
This can easily remedied with a registry change...If you want to change the location of the cache, you just need to change a registry key:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Google Desktop\data_dirIt defaults to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Google Desktop SearchI just exited the search with the tray icon, changed it to a folder on my D drive and moved the existing files over to the new location and then restarted it and it is now updating at the new location just dandyRead more at www.oreillynet.com/pub/...
